A brief history: The Koeman Family and Tulips are hard to separate. My father has 8 brothers, 6 of them were tulip farmers as well. And they all lived within a 10 mile radius.  So I was surrounded with tulips from the moment of birth...  I have very fond memories of my uncles visiting for tea/coffee, sitting around the kitchen table talking about tulips. We call it "koppie doen".

Fast forward in 2009 Keriann and I started our first business endeavor in Brightwood, Virginia. (More about this endeavor in a later blog this week!)

We had a small company called EcoTulips.com LLC, which sold certified organic flower bulbs via mail order/online store.  Unfortunately we were not able to make this business financial sustainable.

The next decade: In summer of 2015 we decided to make the move to Rhode Island. Via Internet we found land for lease from the DEM in RI. That is how we found beautiful Snake Den Farm in Johnston RI!

2016 - Our first blooming season in Johnston RI

2017 - Our second season, we tripled the qty of bulbs we planted but unfortunately lost half crop due to Botrytis.

2018 - February 2018 Kees "Case" was born.  Now were really a blooming family!

2019 - Our best season in Johnston RI - we saw over 30,000 people in 16 days! After this season we did not plant our tulips in Johnston for 3 seasons.

2020 - No U-pick event during Covid - but we sold 20,000 bunches of tulips via our Drive Thru!

2021 Two new locations - Preston CT and a new spot in Exeter RI
